Inorbit Mall Malad Brings A New Social And Literary Experience To Mumbai

Mumbai, September 2026: As leisure increasingly moves beyond shopping and towards experiences that bring people together, Inorbit Mall Malad is putting social interaction, creativity and discovery at the centre of its September calendar. The mall will host the Mahjong Social Club from September 19 to 20, followed by the Crossword Book-a-thon from September 21 to October 4, bringing together everything from social gaming and literature to creative workshops, author interactions and a special Manga Month celebration.

The Mahjong Social Club, built around the idea of “Play. Connect. Compete.”, will offer visitors a premium two-day introduction to one of the world’s most enduring social games. The experience will combine guided learning, casual gameplay and friendly tournaments, making Mahjong accessible to beginners while giving experienced players an opportunity to compete.
The dedicated Mahjong zone will feature 8–10 premium tables, accommodating four players each, alongside a registration desk, lounge seating and a dedicated learning zone. Beginners can participate in guided workshops, while experienced players can head to the tournament zone. 

The cultural calendar will then shift from the Mahjong table to the world of books with the Crossword Book-a-thon, taking place in the Main Atrium from September 21 to October 4. Alongside an extensive selection of books, the activation will feature creative workshops, book launches, author interactions and meet-and-greets, creating opportunities for readers to engage with literature and the people behind the stories.

The author line-up will bring together a mix of literary voices across the two-week program. Neeraj Pandey and Yayay Bootwala are among the authors scheduled to participate, with sessions complemented by hands-on activities including pipe-cleaner flower making, bookmark making, charm bracelet making, greeting card making, coaster painting, mini canvas painting and wine glass painting.

A key highlight of the program will be the appearance of Akshat Gupta on September 26 at 6pm. The session will include a conversation, Q&A, meet-and-greet and book signing, giving readers an opportunity to interact with the author directly.
Adding a pop-culture dimension to the Book-a-thon, Crossword’s Manga Month celebration will culminate in a special Manga Cosplay Event on September 27 at 6pm at Inorbit Mall Malad. Featuring 20+ Manga and Anime characters, the event will bring together fans and creators through Manga Drawing, a photo booth, bookmark station, Manga trivia, character voter cards, a cosplay walk, character battles, audience choice and a grand finale.
